We were commissioned by Derby NHS Hospital Trust to design, fabricate and install a landmark pedestal clock as part of their £334 million development. With care at the heart of the NHS and with the history of Derby, we created a clock that symbolised both aspects.

Florence Nightingale is famous worldwide as the ‘Lady with the Lamp’. She is also famous in Derby after her correspondence with Dr William Ogle of Derbyshire Royal Infirmary in 1860, when it was decided to rebuild the hospital along the lines suggested

by her to reduce mortality rates.

For the new hospital fit for the 21st century, our dedicated  team designed a contemporary pedestal clock which is as different in concept as the medical world is almost two centuries on. To bring this inspiring feature to life, our clockmakers created a 7m high column with a rotating sculpture further 3m high using stainless steel and LED illumination. The constant change of the lighting effect represents the nature of life itself, ongoing but ever renewing.
