One More Time Public Art

Though a conventional timepiece, this clock is very much a piece of art “the way public art should be done” according to Tim Marlow, Artistic Director of the Royal Academy.

Conceived to invoke meditative thoughts on the passage of time, life and mortality, RA academician Cornelia Parker described her clock concept as “the most conscious focus of a railway station, a dominant force. Everyone is watching the clock, checking if they are late. The piece will introduce the idea of a parallel frame of reference, that of a slower astronomical time.”

Installed as part of the Terrace Wires Art Programme at St Pancras International for the summer of 2015, the clock was inaugurated in the presence of E Dent and Company (makers of Big Ben and the original St Pancras Clock) and others from the world of art including Antony Gormley and Michael Craig Martin.
