Sam Schoonderwoerd is proud of his achievement as he completes the final stage of his apprenticeship course at Smith of Derby! Sam started his apprenticeship at Smith of Derby back in 2016 and has now completed his 4-year course in February 2020.  He has achieved Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacture (Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering) along with City and Guilds Level 3 diploma and BTEC level 3 subsidiary diploma in the same subjects. Bespoke Clockwork for Heritage Railway Station

Keighley & Worth Valley Heritage Railway Station has both tourist visitors travelling on iconic steam trains along with commuters using regular services to other local towns. A key feature of the station is the clock, with a tradition of displaying the time of the next train not the current time. Smith of Derby recently worked alongside the station to ensure the time tradition would continue for many years to follow by creating a bespoke solution for time changes. Emmanual Church Restoration Project

The three 1.2m dials which adorn the clock tower at Emmanual Church, Shelley, were recently restored after first been installed over eighty years ago. The work, which was part of a large project at the Church, was a great success and the dials are now looking ‘as good as new’. The clock at Shelley Church was originally donated by Mr. and Mrs. E Auckland to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary in 1935.
