Pride Park Stadium, Derby

Smith of Derby restore and upgrade a much-loved Derby County timepiece

At the back of the East Stand at Pride Park Stadium, the Ossie End clock is once again keeping perfect time for Derby County Football Club.

Recently recommissioned, the clock has undergone a comprehensive service and technical upgrade to ensure reliable performance for seasons to come. Works included the installation of new LED lighting, a fully serviced movement, a replacement motor, and upgraded electronic controls, enabling the clock to adjust automatically for daylight saving time.

The clock holds deep roots in the club’s history. Originally installed by Smith of Derby in 1968 on the Osmaston End at the historic Baseball Ground, it has been a familiar presence across generations of supporters. Following the failure of its previous lighting and mechanical systems, our engineers carefully restored the timepiece to full working order, preserving both its function and its heritage.

More than a practical feature within the stadium, the Ossie End clock forms part of Derby County’s matchday tradition, marking kick-offs, counting down tense finales, and standing witness to decades of Rams history.

Now back in operation, it is ready to continue watching over many more memorable moments at Pride Park.
