World Health and Safety Day

Every year world Health and Safety day is celebrated on the 28th of April. Whilst the day falls on a Sunday this year it does not take away from the importance of the day and Health and Safety in general. Here at Smith of Derby we pride ourselves on our high standards of Health and Safety, developed through investment and training for everyone at the company.

This year the day has been inspired by Inspired by the ILO centenary and discussions on the future of work. the day this year attempts to take stock of a 100 years of work in improving occupational Health and Safety and looks at continuing these efforts through major changes.

Health and Safety at Smith of Derby is led by Ashley Buckler, Health and Safety Manager, who ensures that all practices across the organisation are conducted in a safe manner. “From the Clockmakers through to the Board, Health and Safety is the prime focus of everything we do here at Smith of Derby” said Ashley.

To continuously improve our Health and Safety standards all members of the team take part in Health and Safety seminars as part of our January training programme. Ashley goes on to say that “Our drive to promote Health and Safety throughout the company is reflected in our rigorous training programme which is implemented into everything we do to ensure that safety needs are met. We actively encourage an open communication with the team and work through any safety issues as they arise, whether it’s a local church tower or a large international project.”
