Clockmaker Clocks Up 50 years’ service

This week marks a very special celebration for one of our clockmakers. Jonathan Lee (Jon) celebrates 50 years of continuous service with the company, from school days to today.  Jon joined the company on the 24th July 1970 at the age of 15, as a school leaver, quite literally, finishing school on the Thursday and started work on the Friday! Jon completed his clockmaking apprenticeship over 7 years and has continued his service since then, Jonathan is one of the country’s most respected turret clockmakers. It’s been another busy month here at Smith of Derby! We’ve had three new team members join us, completed some fantastic projects and had some special visitors in our works… New Team Members Recently graduated from the University of Derby, Rachel Broughton and Daniel Marshall have joined our commercial team.
